Josef Eidenberger
(1899 - 1991)

Josef Eidenberger was born in 1899 in the
town of Goisern, Austria. He began his
career as a landscape painter before
enrolling at the Graphic Academy of Art in
Vienna in 1923. Studying under Professor

through his many etchings of European
buildings and scenes. After visiting the
United States for the first time in 1973, he
created a series of Californian etchings. In
1974 he was commissioned to do a series
of color etchings of Williamsburg,
Virginia. in commemoration of the United
States Bicentennial celebration.

In December 1977, Josef Eidenberger was
given the hororary title Professor of the
Arts by the Austian Government in
recognition of his contribution to fine art.
