Alice Gibbons was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. She found her artistic ability early on, and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, majoring in printmaking and graduating in 1966.
In 1967, Alice travelled to Paris, and studied at L'Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, where painting and drawing unfolded for her in new ways. Eventually, Alice returned to the Bay Area to begin her career as a successful artist.
Alice is experienced in hard ground etchings, as well as other Intaglio techniques. She has taught Intaglio techniques through the Graphic Arts Workshop in San Francisco.
