Paul Le Duc

Paul Le Duc Jr

Paul Le Duc began his artistic career in
two-dimensional oil painting. Two
dimensions were too limiting for him, so
craving more, he began to combine other
materials into collage, using foam, paper,
wood, plaster and metal. As he did so, the
canvases he painted began to take on a
relief surface and eventually, he turned to
metal as his favored vehicle of expression.

Starting with metal silhouettes, Paul
progressed to more abstract work, and
then finally to using found objects in
whatever metals he was working with at
the time. He transforms the objects into
whatever his mind suggests to him.

In his early work, Paul taught himself how
to weld. He took continuous welding
classes early on, then working as a teacher
of evening classes in Cupertino to learn
everything he could about machinery and
new and old technology.

To maintain a studio large enough for
heavy metal sculpture, Paul manages his
own dry wall business. Paul also develops
interior design concepts for remodeled
houses, working with architects and clients.

Paul majored in television and documentary
film classes at De Anza College.
