Mahoko Dahte was born in Tokyo and raised in a traditional family with one sister. Although her work reflects many of the self-effacing facets of Japanese art, it also incorporates a freedom and lyricism that bounds on free form poetry.
Mahoko's creativity and Zen spirituality expresses itself in many forms. In addition to her ceramic art, she has studied and teaches Ikebana (floral arrangments), the Japanese tea ceremony, calligraphy and the Koto (the Japanese harp).
